The head coach of the Al-Taawoun FC first team, Serbian Zarko Lazetic, spoke about the team's situation and recent results, stressing that the current stage requires more work and effectiveness in front of goal, during the press conference for the match against Al-Fateh in the fifth round of the Roshn Saudi League
Lazetic expressed his dissatisfaction with the results the team achieved in previous rounds, noting that Al-Taawoun played three matches at home without being able to score, which was reflected in the results, explaining at the same time that the technical staff's interest is not limited to the result alone, but includes analysing the details of the matches and working to address the aspects that need improvement
The head coach said: “We are certainly not happy with the result, we played three matches at home and were not able to score, and as we all know, if you don't score goals you won't be able to win”, affirming his understanding of the difficulty of the start of the season, as work continues to reach the expected level and results
Lazetic pointed out that the team once again managed to create clear scoring chances in the last match, but the lack of finishing in front of goal prevented them from benefiting from them, stressing that effectiveness in the final third is one of the most prominent points the technical staff is working to develop in the current period
The Al-Taawoun coach touched on the positive side the team showed in the final minutes of the previous match, and said that playing with ten men for the last 25 minutes did not stop the team from showing strong character and spirit, considering this a positive indicator that can be built on in the coming matches
Lazetic stressed the importance of everyone taking responsibility, explaining that the team wins and loses as one group, and that responsibility does not lie with any particular player, and said: “We have to be more decisive in front of goal, and at the same time we must not run away from responsibility; responsibility lies on the shoulders of everyone as one team”
Regarding whether the problem is linked to the squad's players, the coach affirmed his confidence in the players with him, noting his happiness with the current group, and that his focus is on working with them and developing performance, away from looking for excuses, stressing that results are a collective responsibility and that he is the first to bear responsibility for them as head coach
On the solutions needed to turn chances into goals, Lazetic explained that the team has players with a good scoring record, but the current stage requires more work, seriousness and acceptance of responsibility, especially in the final third of the pitch
The coach concluded his remarks by stressing the need to deal with pressure with the required character, noting that the rising level of pressure requires the players to show greater character on the pitch, which is what the team needs in the coming period in order to return to achieving positive results
