Lazetic: We Must Correct the Mistakes and Show a Different Face in the Next Match
Al-Taawoun head coach Zarko Lazetic affirmed that he takes responsibility for the team's below-expectation display in the match against Al-Kholood, stressing the importance of addressing the mistakes and working to deliver a strong reaction in the next match.
Lazetic explained during the post-match press conference that the team did not deliver the expected level in the first half, apologising to Al-Taawoun's fans, and affirming that the performance during that period did not befit the team.
He said: “I take responsibility first, and then comes the responsibility of the team and the players. We fell three goals behind, but coming back from 0-3 was not impossible, and the team showed a better reaction in the second half.”
The head coach pointed out that the most notable thing the team lacked during the match was courage, the desire to take the initiative and to take responsibility on the pitch, affirming that the problem was not related to tactical aspects as much as to the way the team dealt with the course of the match.
He added: “What happened must not be repeated, especially in the first half. We must benefit from this match and treat it as a lesson that helps us develop and correct mistakes in the coming period.”
Regarding conceding goals from the right side, Lazetic affirmed that responsibility does not lie with a particular player or position, explaining that two of Al-Kholood's goals came from set pieces, and that responsibility in such cases remains collective.
He continued: “We play as one team, the responsibility is collective, and I take it first and foremost.”
Al-Taawoun's coach also pointed out that the team's reaction came late in the previous two matches, which requires more work in training in order to enter matches in a better way from the start.
He concluded his remarks by affirming his confidence in the team's ability to come back stronger, saying: “We will work on addressing the mistakes, and we will see a real reaction from the team in the next match.”
